It is essential that we do not try to exploit the stye, since the causative bacteria could spread inside the eye and generate more styes
Styes are generally harmless, do not compromise vision, and usually resolve within a few days. Therefore, they do not require a particular medical treatment. However, this does not mean that we have the green light to manipulate them in any way or apply any type of medicinal ointment.
And then why are some remedies for styes recommended? Find out the answer below.
What are styes?
First of all, a distinction must be made between internal and external styes. External styes usually appear in the sebaceous glands located on the margin of the eyelids, at the base of the eyelashes or in the sweat glands. On the other hand, internal styes are those that appear on the inner surface of the eyelid.
Styes are the product of bacterial infections. They produce a reddish bump that fills upwith water and pus, and itches. However, it should not be squeezed or handled in any way because it could make it worse.
